Class 3 Summary

Talk with Caroline Cloutier and Skype chat with Jane about grant writing.

Documentation tips from Caroline
  • Starts with a general view of the space
  • Take photos from every angle
  • Later on focus on individual pieces
  • After that focus on specific details
  • 35-50mm focal length
  • 100 iso
  • Be concious of white balance - Wait until the evening to photograph to avoid mixed lighting
  • To avoid having your reflection in the image shoot through a large black sheet or merge two images in photoshop
  • Lightroom is extremely useful for batch photo processing, colour correction and distortion correction

Grant Writing tips from Jane

  • Make a master list of all the deadlines
  • Remember that confirmation can come as late as when you're setting up the exhibit
  • Get everyone to give their receipts in the end
  • Everyone sign the receipt with their name and what it was for
  • Make sure to include a list of each other grant you're applying for at the end of each submission.
  • If you don't make back all the money give each person their own percentage
  • Concordia travel grant can be used for transport
